THE FOSTERING OF PEACE AND THE PROMOTION OF A COMMUNITY OF NATIONS

Reading these passages, articles and discussion posts I have learned what is really important for our society today. First of all, the first quote, surrounding the idea of human rights and dignity as everyone deserves to have bare necessities available to them. This is not typically a problem for us as we are very fortunate but we take for granted the clean water that comes out of the tap or the fact that we always have food in the fridge. This has changed my perspective on the things that I do, eat and use everyday that seem so normal to me, a closet full of clothes, a safe place to call home and a loving family. There's so many things that we have but forget to be thankful for.

The second passage was the one that my group has to analyse. This quote focuses on the need of an equal community as we are all created in the unique image of God. Regardless of race, gender, sex or ethical background we must put aside our differences to support each other in times of hardship because we're all in this together.

The third quotation focuses on global peace and the ever-going cycle of war caused by the greed and conflicts of humans. This again is not a problem with which  we come face-to-face in or everyday lives here in Ontario but we must not ignore what is going on in the world around us.

These three quotes have taught me the importance of human rights, equality, inclusivity, peace and selflessness. We must do our part to promote these themes in our everyday lives such as random acts of kindness, lending a hand to someone in need and standing up for what is right.
